Where wisdom reigns, there is no conflict between thinking and feeling

“What’s it all about Alfie?”

Recently a friend, Rachel Adamson, asked if I would like her to create a website and blog for me.  What a wonderful idea since I have always been fascinated with the mystery of life and what lies beyond this realm of reality, and would love to share some of my experiences and explore this subject with you.

My name is Mary Mohs, and as long as I can remember I have been interested in the mystical side of life and how we are connected to the Divine.  What I have to say in this and future writings is a reflection of what I have learned through my experiences, through information that I have discovered along the way, and by what I have acquired by working with dreams and through my meditations.

I was raised Catholic, and have deeply contemplated many of the benefits and detriments of what that title implies. Certainly, I am not naive enough to believe that the Catholic Church has all the answers, nor that it is in any way perfect.  I do know that I embrace the Catholic Church as a part of who I am.  My mother would tell me the fabulous stories about the mystics, and I wanted to be a part of that mystery.

Recently, I heard a sermon from one of the priest at Holy Rosary, Father Bart.  He said he was raised a Baptist, and loved the Bible stories.  One day he was taken back about the story where Jesus said, “…unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you”(John 6:53).  Many of Jesus’s disciples left him after he said this, but Father Bart became Catholic because he took these words to heart and realized that he was able to participate every day in this sacred ritual as a Catholic.  I too find a profound energy in participating in this sacrament, as did many of the saints.  Perhaps what strengthened this belief are the stories about the Eucharistic miracles in Italy, Poland, Venezuela and other places in the world, where the communion host turned into flesh or was bleeding.

About 25 years ago I met an Indian Holy man.  At the time he was a professor of theology at the University of Minnesota named Pandit Usharbudh Arya.  Later he was ordained Swami Veda Bharati. What attracted me to him and his tradition was the wisdom he taught about religion and other spiritual traditions.  He said, “See the sameness in all religions rather than the differences. Wars are fought over the differences.”

What is the perennial wisdom that underlines all religions?  That is what I am most interested in. Who is “God?”  Like in the song Alfie, by Dionne Warwick,  “What’s it all about Alfie?”  How does Consciousness manifest within us? Jesus to me was the most powerful being that has ever been born on the planet, and it is the Christ Consciousness that I aspire to, although there are many who would say, “no” Buddha, or Muhammad, or Krishna is the greatest. What is this Consciousness that is evident in these great masters and yet unites us all?

There are many subjects I would like to explore with you; dreams, mystic visions, the love that unites us all, the lives of the saints, interesting spiritual books, and meditation and prayer to name just a few.  I do hope you join me on this journey as we explore the vast subjects that go beyond, and yet include this realm of reality.  Looking forward to hearing from you!

Love and Peace,
Mary
